Hunger Action Month was established by Feeding America in 2008 to create a nationwide push against food insecurity in the United States. One of the campaign's objectives is to raise awareness that hunger affects all sorts of people in America from working families to seniors. In fact, over 48 million people in the United States, including 14 million children, experience food insecurity each year. The Nelson-Jameson Foundation is proud to support several charities that tackle this serious challenge in our communities, including Feeding America's associated food banks that are listed below.
What can we do?
- Volunteer your time at a local food bank or food pantry to pack, sort or distribute meals.
- Donate food to a local food bank or food pantry.
- Donate money to a food-focused non-profit.
Nelson-Jameson Foundation matches $2 for every $1 that Nelson-Jameson employees donate to Feeding America or its associated 501(c)(3) food banks in our communities: Second Harvest of the Greater Valley (CA), The Idaho Foodbank (ID), Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania (PA), High Plains Food Bank (TX)
- Spread the word about Hunger Action Month to raise awareness about food insecurity.
