A Powerful Foundation for a More Inclusive Hockey World

The Latin proverb, "Aut inveniam viam aut faciasm" – "I will either find a way or make one" – has been a guiding principle for The Hendrickson Foundation. This powerful mantra perfectly encapsulates the organization's mission to create a stronger, more inclusive State of Hockey.

Born out of a casual conversation between friends Larry Hendrickson and Mike "Mac" MacMillan in 2011, the foundation's journey began with a stark realization: the lack of opportunities for disabled hockey players in Minnesota. From this initial spark, a collaborative effort with USA Hockey and Minnesota Hockey organizations took shape, aiming to dismantle barriers and foster inclusivity in the sport.

The Hendrickson Foundation empowers athletes of all ages and abilities, including children with intellectual and physical disabilities and military members facing combat-related challenges. By providing a supportive environment, the foundation helps these individuals discover their strength, perseverance, and a sense of belonging within the hockey community.

The foundation's work is complemented by the contributions of The Nelson-Jameson Foundation, which emphasizes the importance of giving back and gratitude for fellow human beings. Both organizations share a commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive society, and their efforts have had a profound impact on countless individuals.

Through its steadfast commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, The Hendrickson Foundation has made a significant impact on the lives of countless athletes, ensuring that hockey truly is a game for everyone. For the athletes, the experience is transformative. They achieve fortitude and resilience within themselves, thriving in the supportive community that Larry Hendrickson built for them.
